Any panic attacks I had were met with anger about how embarrassing I was to them. For both my ex-spouse and my dad, this was a core flaw in my being, and told me constantly how I needed very much to "fix" it. I am an HSP and as such have a lot of anxiety in strange, loud, and/or crowded places. When I began my journey of healing concerning my dad, it became clear that I had married the embodiment of him both were emotionally abusive, reminding me daily how flawed I was, always pointing out my worthlessness. I'm trying to understand and follow this advice, but in deep down this feels incomplete.įor a little background, I have survived a narcissistic father and a narcissistic (now ex) spouse. Someone told me that if there can't be closure, there is only acceptance. It seems to me that the nature of NPD makes closure rarely (if ever) an option.
